CMU-240-04 — Automated Current Management Unit (40 A)

What it does

The CMU-240-04 is an automated load-management upgrade to the CMU-240 series, designed for seamless power sharing between two high-demand 240 V loads, such as EV chargers, electric stoves, or dryers, without the need to manually switch loads. Unlike the CMU-240-01, which uses a contractor-installed selector switch, this unit automatically prioritizes the primary load and intelligently manages the secondary load to prevent service overloads.

How it works

Using internal current sensing technology, the CMU-240-04 (for 40 A applications) continuously monitors both connected circuits. When the primary load draws above its rated threshold, the unit automatically disconnects the secondary load to maintain panel safety. When overall power demand drops below the set threshold, both loads can run simultaneously, maximizing available capacity without manual intervention.
